The scallion is a type of allium and belongs to the Allium family. There are about 600 different varieties of scallions. It is therefore not surprising that this allium is known by many names. Scallions are sometimes referred to as salad onions, green onions, or bunching onions.
Many people also know scallions as bosui. However, bosui is actually a scallion that is harvested later. Scallions, on the other hand, resemble a small leek; their flavor is mild and sometimes compared to that of leek.
