Fresh Iceberg lettuce

Iceberg lettuce

In the early 20th century, iceberg lettuce was introduced in America under the name “Iceberg.” This name was given to the lettuce because it was transported by train from the west to the east coast, with a mound of ice placed on top to keep it fresh. Over time, this lettuce variety has taken an important place in Western cuisine.

Iceberg lettuce has a fresh green color, a crunchy bite, a long shelf life, and a refreshing taste. The leaves are light green and form a compact head. The edges may curl outward or fold tightly around the head.

On an area of 140 hectares, Groentemakers grows iceberg lettuce for the fresh market and industry. Our iceberg lettuce is planted from early March to late August. Harvesting begins in May and continues continuously until the end of October. The iceberg lettuce finds its way to customers both domestically and abroad in various types of packaging.
